“And when there is nothing left, to realize that nothing can destroy the unknown depth that dwells within me, that nothing can destroy the life that flows through me.”
We don’t know what she went through before. What we witness is her inner struggle. Little by little, as if emerging from a long absence from herself and from life, she resurfaces in her ramshackle home, furnished with odds and ends. She lives there amid the objects, looking at them, touching them, in a strange and tender way. She seems to feel a deep attachment to them, as if they were revealing something to her beyond their mere status as objects, as if they had, in a way, a soul. Her empathy—that organic way of feeling things, that flame that burns within her—allows her to emerge from her melancholy.
She has abandoned the idea of living in the outside world—which eludes her—to immerse herself in a world of the senses, which opens the door to a depth where she feels at home. She goes through moments when she is overwhelmed by emotions she can no longer control, but she never gives up, guided by an intense life force. No matter how exhausting the struggle may be, she never gives up. She sometimes feels as though she is merging with the matter around her, experiencing each of her movements to the fullest because she knows that the very fact of being alive is a gift to be savored to the utmost.
The film was made in a very artisanal way, with the aim of creating a raw poetic quality, doing everything possible to allow the viewer to be carried along without necessarily having to understand.
